Introduction
A sensation of blockage and dryness in the throat may be caused by chronic pharyngitis. In addition, when gastric contents reflux into the pharynx, they can irritate the pharyngeal mucosa, leading to local hyperplasia and a "cobblestone" appearance; excessive sputum production can also cause the aforementioned symptoms. Persistent infectious inflammation of the tonsils is often associated with a history of recurrent acute tonsillitis, and the above symptoms may persist during intervals between acute episodes.

The sensation of something blocking the throat, along with dryness, may be related to factors such as throat irritants, allergic reactions, laryngopharyngeal reflux, chronic tonsillitis, or chronic pharyngitis.

1. Throat irritants: Exposure to irritating substances such as smoke, chemicals, dust, or dry air may cause a dry throat and a feeling of a foreign body. Symptoms usually resolve after avoiding these substances.

2. Allergic reactions: Allergies to substances like pollen, dust mites, or animal dander can lead to throat discomfort and the sensation of something stuck in the throat. Under medical guidance, medications such as cetirizine hydrochloride tablets or loratadine tablets may be used for treatment.

3. Laryngopharyngeal reflux: When stomach contents flow back into the throat, they irritate the mucous membranes, causing the above symptoms along with acid regurgitation, belching, and heartburn. It is recommended to take acid-suppressing medications under medical supervision; commonly used drugs include omeprazole enteric-coated capsules and domperidone tablets.

4. Chronic tonsillitis: Persistent infectious inflammation of the tonsils can also cause the aforementioned discomfort during flare-ups. Under medical guidance, medications such as compound Honeysuckle granules or amoxicillin capsules may be taken to relieve symptoms.

5. Chronic pharyngitis: The main symptoms of chronic pharyngitis include a sensation of a foreign body in the throat, dryness, burning sensation in the throat, repeated dry cough, and frequent throat clearing. As directed by a physician, medications such as azithromycin capsules or roxithromycin capsules may be used to alleviate symptoms.

If these symptoms persist or worsen, prompt medical attention is advised to prevent further progression of the condition.
