Introduction
In general, transient tinnitus after being slapped may be caused by sound stimulation, traumatic tympanic membrane perforation, external otitis, sensorineural tinnitus, or ossicular chain dislocation. Patients are advised to follow medical instructions for symptomatic treatment. Additionally, transient tinnitus following a slap may also result from inner ear concussion. If patients experience discomfort, they should seek prompt medical attention at a hospital.

Under normal circumstances, transient tinnitus after being slapped may be caused by sound stimulation, traumatic tympanic membrane perforation, external otitis, sensorineural tinnitus, or ossicular chain dislocation. Patients are advised to follow medical advice for symptomatic treatment. Specific analyses are as follows:

1. Sound Stimulation

If the slap produces a loud noise, it may stimulate the ear's mucous membranes, leading to tinnitus or hearing loss. It is recommended that patients avoid noisy environments, get adequate rest, and minimize prolonged exposure to noise.

2. Traumatic Tympanic Membrane Perforation

After the ear is struck by a slap, a sudden pressure imbalance between the external auditory canal and middle ear can occur, potentially causing the thin eardrum to rupture under pressure. Due to its delicate structure, the eardrum is prone to perforation when subjected to external force, which may result in tinnitus. Small perforations often heal spontaneously, but large perforations typically require surgical repair as directed by a physician.

3. External Otitis

Excessive force during a slap may damage the mucosa of the external auditory canal, making it susceptible to bacterial infection and resulting in external otitis. Symptoms include ear pain, swelling of the ear canal, and increased secretions. Without proper treatment, pus discharge from the ear canal may develop, potentially causing tinnitus. Patients may use medications such as levofloxacin hydrochloride ear drops or ciprofloxacin hydrochloride ear drops as prescribed. Additionally, maintaining local hygiene and avoiding frequent ear picking with fingers is important.

4. Sensorineural Tinnitus

Prolonged mental stress may damage the cochlea and lead to sensorineural tinnitus. Common symptoms include a feeling of fullness in the ear, hearing loss, and tinnitus. Patients may take medications such as oryzanol tablets or mecobalamin capsules as directed by their doctor to alleviate symptoms.

5. Ossicular Chain Dislocation

The ossicular chain consists of three small bones—the malleus, incus, and stapes—connected together. When the ear suffers external trauma, this chain may become dislocated, potentially causing conductive hearing loss and tinnitus. In such cases, patients may undergo exploratory surgery and repair of the ossicular chain as recommended by a physician.

In addition, transient tinnitus following a slap could also result from inner ear concussion. If patients experience discomfort, they should seek timely medical evaluation and receive targeted treatment to prevent disease progression.
