Diabetic massage technique video
Generally, diabetes falls within the scope of "Xiao Ke" (wasting-thirst) in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and is often associated with deficiency of yin and internal heat. Symptoms may be relieved by massaging the Sanyinjiao acupoint. The specific procedure is as follows:
1. The practitioner should wash their hands thoroughly to ensure cleanliness and hygiene.
2. Locate the acupoint, which is typically found on the inner side of the lower leg, 3 cun (approximately four finger widths) above the tip of the medial malleolus, along the posterior border of the tibia.
3. Use the pad of the thumb to press on this acupoint for 3–5 minutes per session, applying moderate pressure.
4. After pressing, perform clockwise or counterclockwise circular massage at the same point for 5–10 minutes.
It is important to apply even, gentle pressure during the massage of Sanyinjiao; excessive force should be avoided to prevent skin or tissue damage. It is recommended to seek treatment at a reputable medical facility under the guidance of a qualified healthcare provider. Additionally, note that massage has limited effectiveness in managing diabetes and should be used as a complementary therapy alongside other standard treatments.
