How to read a chromosome test report
The chromosome test report primarily evaluates whether the structure and number of chromosomes are abnormal. Specific analysis is as follows:
1. Structure: Normally, humans have 23 pairs, or 46 chromosomes in total, with half inherited from the mother and half from the father. When chromosomal structure is abnormal, individuals may not exhibit obvious physical or intellectual developmental issues, but the risks of miscarriage, stillbirth, and fetal malformations may increase.
2. Number: If there is an extra chromosome, it may indicate intellectual abnormalities in the patient. Abnormal numbers of sex chromosomes—either increased or missing—may be associated with reduced fertility.
It is recommended to consult a doctor for interpretation of the results to ensure accuracy.
