Introduction
Protects blood vessels, strengthens the body, combats aging, and lowers blood pressure. Corn oil is rich in vitamins A, D, and E; it is easily digested and absorbed by children. Vitamin E neutralizes reactive oxygen species (free radicals) in the body, thereby enhancing immune function, improving blood circulation, and preventing cardiovascular diseases. Appropriate supplementation of vitamin B₂ and vitamin E can also help the body resist cold temperatures.

Corn oil—also known as maize oil or corn germ oil—is extracted from the germ of corn kernels. The fat content of corn germ ranges from 17% to 45%, accounting for over 80% of the total fat in corn. A distinguishing feature of corn oil is its high proportion of unsaturated fatty acids, which constitutes 80–85% of its total fat content. Let’s explore its benefits together.

Health Benefits and Functions

Vascular Protection

Corn oil is rich in vitamins A, D, and E. It is easily digested and absorbed by children. Vitamin E effectively scavenges reactive oxygen species (free radicals) in the body, thereby enhancing immune function, improving blood circulation, and helping prevent cardiovascular diseases.

Strengthening Physical Health

During cold winter months, moderate supplementation with vitamins B₂ and E not only helps the body withstand low temperatures but also prevents or reduces the incidence of various cold-induced illnesses.

Anti-Aging Effects

Corn oil contains abundant unsaturated fatty acids and vitamins, with linoleic acid comprising up to 60%. It helps lower serum cholesterol and blood pressure, prevents atherosclerosis and coronary artery disease, exerts anti-aging effects, and aids in managing simple obesity.

Blood Pressure Reduction

Linoleic acid in corn oil lowers cholesterol levels and blood pressure, softens blood vessels, enhances muscular and cardiovascular function—including that of the heart—and helps prevent and improve atherosclerosis while reducing the risk of heart disease. Additionally, it may alleviate symptoms of prostatic disorders and dermatitis.

Precautions:

During cooking, avoid heating corn oil until it begins to smoke, as this degrades its quality. Do not reuse the oil, as repeated heating and cooling accelerates oxidation and spoilage. Carefully control cooking temperature: overheating or burning can generate harmful peroxides, potentially causing liver and skin damage. Store corn oil in an airtight container to minimize exposure to air, which promotes oxidation and rancidity. Keep it in a cool, dark place, away from direct light and sunlight to prevent deterioration.
