Introduction
Radiofrequency ablation for atrial fibrillation usually refers to cardiac radiofrequency ablation. In this procedure, electrode catheters are inserted through blood vessels into specific sites within the heart chambers, where radiofrequency energy is delivered to create localized necrosis of the endocardium, thereby interrupting abnormal electrical conduction pathways and treating arrhythmias. Patients generally can return to normal daily activities within about 2 to 3 months, although the exact recovery time varies from person to person.
