Introduction
In general, hair dye that gets on the skin can usually be removed using toothpaste, Vaseline, detergent, baking soda, or vinegar. If the hair dye has penetrated deeply into the skin or caused irritation, it is advisable to seek medical attention promptly. Before using any cleaning method, a skin sensitivity test is recommended to avoid potential allergic reactions.

Under normal circumstances, hair dye on the skin can usually be removed using toothpaste, Vaseline, detergents, baking soda, vinegar, and similar substances. If the hair dye has penetrated deeply into the skin or caused irritation, it is advisable to seek medical attention promptly. Specific methods are as follows:

1. Toothpaste

Apply a small amount of toothpaste to the area of skin stained with hair dye, spreading it into a thin, even layer. Gently rub in circular motions with a cotton swab or makeup pad for about 1 minute, then wipe off with fingers or a towel while rinsing with lukewarm water.

2. Vaseline

Apply a small amount of Vaseline to the affected skin and gently massage in circular motions until the hair dye begins to fade. Then wipe clean with a damp towel. If the dye only shows signs of fading, apply a thin layer of Vaseline to the area using fingers or a cotton pad, wear disposable gloves, and leave it overnight. In the morning, gently wipe the area with a clean, damp towel.

3. Detergent

Dip your fingertip into dish soap or laundry detergent and apply it directly to the stained skin. Use a small damp towel with warm water to gently wipe the area a few times.

4. Baking Soda

Mix 10 mL of baking soda with 10 mL of dish soap or laundry detergent and stir well. Dip a cotton swab or makeup pad into the mixture and gently wipe the stained skin for 30–90 seconds, then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.

5. Vinegar

Most hair dyes are alkaline, while vinegar is acidic; an acid-base reaction between them can help dissolve the dye. Apply edible vinegar to the stained area, let it sit for several minutes, then wash as per the usual cleansing routine.

Before using any of these cleaning methods, it is recommended to perform a skin sensitivity test to avoid potential allergic reactions.
