Introduction
In general, whether heart valve regurgitation can be reversed depends on the severity of the condition. Mild heart valve regurgitation may improve and potentially resolve; however, moderate to severe regurgitation is more difficult to reverse. In daily life, it is important to maintain a diet low in salt, fat, and sugar, engage in moderate physical activity, avoid smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, and maintain healthy sleep habits.

In general, whether heart valve regurgitation can be restored depends on the severity of the condition. Mild heart valve regurgitation may improve or resolve; however, moderate to severe regurgitation is more difficult to reverse.

Heart valve regurgitation primarily results from enlargement of the atria or ventricles, commonly caused by factors such as pulmonary hypertension, aortic hypertension, and systemic hypertension. When regurgitation is mild, symptoms such as shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, and wheezing may occur, but these typically do not significantly impair cardiac function. In such cases, appropriate treatment combined with lifestyle modifications—such as taking medications like metoprolol tartrate tablets or digoxin tablets as prescribed by a physician—may lead to recovery or substantial improvement of the regurgitation.

When heart valve regurgitation reaches moderate or severe levels, patients may develop symptoms including cerebral and myocardial ischemia, arrhythmias, and heart failure. At this stage, regurgitation is often due to structural damage or disease of the heart valves, which is usually irreversible. Surgical interventions such as valve replacement or valve repair can help restore normal valve function and reduce regurgitation, but complete recovery is generally not achievable.

In daily life, it is important to maintain a diet low in salt, fat, and sugar, engage in moderate physical activity, avoid smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, maintain regular sleep patterns, and keep a cheerful mood and emotional stability.
