A sprain refers to an injury of the soft tissues—such as ligaments, tendons, or muscles—around joints of the limbs or other body parts, without associated fractures, dislocations, or skin lacerations. Severe TFCC tears or other structural injuries may necessitate surgical repair. Furthermore, if a cast has been applied, avoid moving the wrist during the first 10–20 minutes post-application to prevent cast deformation or pressure sores.
