Introduction
There are generally three methods for removing tooth roots, with the following reference prices: extraction using forceps, 500–1,000 yuan per tooth; elevation using a dental elevator, 400–1,200 yuan per tooth; and flap surgery with bone removal, 1,000–3,000 yuan per tooth. Factors influencing the cost of tooth root extraction include the position of the root, the extraction method used, and regional differences.

There are typically three methods for removing tooth roots, with the following reference prices: forceps extraction, priced at approximately 500–1000 RMB per tooth; elevator extraction, priced at approximately 400–1200 RMB per tooth; and flap and bone removal extraction, priced at approximately 1000–3000 RMB per tooth. Factors influencing the cost of tooth root extraction include the position of the root, the extraction method used, and regional differences.

Methods of tooth root extraction and their reference prices:

Category/Method

Forceps Extraction

Elevator Extraction

Flap and Bone Removal Extraction

Reference Price

500–1000 RMB/tooth

400–1200 RMB/tooth

1000–3000 RMB/tooth

Principle

The beaks of the forceps are progressively advanced toward the root apex to grasp more of the root, preventing slippage and minimizing the risk of root fracture.

The elevator is inserted from the side where the root fragment is higher, using wedging, rotational, and levering forces to remove the root.

A trapezoidal incision is first made on the buccal gingiva, the gingival and periosteal flap is lifted, and the residual root is then removed using an elevator.

Suitable Candidates

Individuals with a relatively high alveolar ridge

Individuals with single or broken roots

Individuals with impacted or malformed teeth

Recovery Period

3–7 days

7–10 days

1–2 months

Risks

1. Pain
2. Hematoma

1. Damage to adjacent teeth
2. Bleeding

1. Pain
2. Infection spread

Factors affecting the cost:

① Root Position
The depth and difficulty of removing the tooth root are major factors affecting cost. Anterior tooth roots are generally easier to extract and therefore less expensive, while posterior teeth, which are deeper and structurally more complex, require more effort and thus incur higher costs.

② Extraction Method
Different extraction techniques require varying amounts of time and materials, leading to differences in pricing.

③ Regional Differences
Due to variations in economic and living standards across regions, the cost of tooth root extraction may differ. Prices tend to be higher in first-tier and economically developed areas, while lower in second- and third-tier cities.

If tooth root extraction is needed, it is recommended to visit a正规 medical institution and undergo the procedure under the guidance of a qualified dentist. After the procedure, proper postoperative care is essential—avoid contact with water too early to prevent complications and support optimal healing.
