Introduction
It is necessary to monitor her height and weight at various ages throughout childhood to determine whether she is growing along her own inherent growth trajectory. Therefore, we recommend measuring height and weight every six months for children aged three years and older. By plotting these measurements on a growth chart, we can clearly assess whether the child’s growth pattern is normal, accelerated, or decelerated.

Let’s examine this growth chart, which displays height and weight percentiles for girls aged 2 to 18 years in China. We’ll identify the normal range.

On this chart, the normal range for girls of this age group lies between the second-to-last curve (counting from the bottom) and the second curve from the top. You may notice that this range appears quite broad. So how do we determine whether an individual child’s height and weight are developing normally? We need to monitor her height and weight values across different ages and assess whether she is growing steadily along her own unique growth trajectory.
