How to release trapped gas through flatulence
Generally, methods such as drinking warm water, consuming foods that promote gas release, standing or walking, abdominal massage, and taking probiotics can help expel built-up gas.
1. Drinking warm water: Warm water can warm the gastrointestinal tract, stimulate intestinal motility, and also help soften stools, making it easier for gas to be expelled.
2. Consuming gas-releasing foods: Certain foods, such as radishes, onions, and legumes, can promote gas release by stimulating gastrointestinal motility and increasing gas expulsion. However, individuals with weak gastrointestinal function should consume these gas-producing foods in moderation to avoid worsening bloating.
3. Standing or walking: Avoid sitting or lying down for prolonged periods, as standing or slow walking can help stimulate intestinal motility, allowing gas to move more easily through the intestines and be expelled more readily.
4. Abdominal massage: Lie flat on your back and relax your body. Warm your hands by rubbing them together and place them on your abdomen. Gently massage in a clockwise direction around the navel to stimulate intestinal motility and aid in gas expulsion.
5. Taking probiotics: If bloating is caused by gastrointestinal dysfunction, indigestion, or similar issues, probiotics can be taken to regulate the intestinal flora, such as Bifidobacterium live capsules, compound acidophilus tablets, and similar medications.
If bloating persists or is accompanied by other symptoms such as abdominal pain, vomiting, or fever, prompt medical attention is advised to rule out other potential diseases.
