What is spermatorrhea?
Sliding ejaculation is a term in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) that refers to the phenomenon in males of semen naturally discharging without ejaculation during sleep, or self-release of semen while awake.
Sliding ejaculation is a form of seminal emission and may be caused by various factors. On one hand, when semen accumulates to a certain level without timely discharge, slight sexual stimulation may lead to spontaneous leakage of semen. This is considered a normal physiological phenomenon, and the frequency generally decreases naturally with age. On the other hand, sliding ejaculation may also be caused by local inflammatory stimulation such as chronic prostatitis or posterior urethritis, or psychological factors such as depression and anxiety. This requires attention and timely medical consultation.
Symptoms of sliding ejaculation may include general fatigue, lack of energy, painful ejaculation, and may also be accompanied by urinary symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, and painful urination. Frequent occurrences of sliding ejaculation may lead to excessive physical exhaustion and affect normal work and daily life. In TCM theory, sliding ejaculation is associated with syndromes such as kidney deficiency, kidney yin deficiency, kidney-qi instability, and downward invasion of damp-heat. Treatment requires syndrome differentiation based on individual conditions.
In TCM treatment of sliding ejaculation, the emphasis is on nourishing the kidney and consolidating essence. Prescriptions such as Wuzi Yanzong Pills, Jin suo Guying Pills, and Bushen Yijing Pills may be recommended. In Western medicine, treatment may include medications such as Tadalafil tablets, Paroxetine hydrochloride tablets, and Chlorpromazine hydrochloride tablets, as directed by a physician, to treat pathological seminal emissions caused by genitourinary tract infections. Additionally, patients should maintain healthy lifestyle habits, avoid excessive fatigue and stress, keep the genital area clean, and reduce stimulation of the genital organs.
