Introduction
Facial nerve twitching is mainly caused by factors such as excessive stress, over fatigue, improper diet, neurotransmitter disorders, and idiopathic facial nerve palsy. Under states of stress and anxiety, the body releases stress hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol at elevated levels. Excessive amounts of these hormones may lead to muscle tension and increased nerve excitability, thereby causing involuntary contractions of the facial muscles.

Generally, facial nerve twitching is mainly caused by stress, excessive fatigue, improper diet, neurotransmitter disorders, idiopathic facial nerve palsy, and other similar reasons. If discomfort occurs, timely medical attention is recommended. Detailed analysis is as follows:

1. Stress

Under conditions of stress and anxiety, the body releases increased levels of stress hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol. Excessive amounts of these hormones may cause muscle tension and heightened nerve excitability, leading to involuntary contractions of facial muscles. It is recommended to practice relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing, meditation, yoga, etc., to help reduce stress and anxiety.

2. Excessive Fatigue

Extended working hours or insufficient rest, especially eye strain, may also lead to facial nerve twitching. It is advisable to schedule work and rest periods appropriately and avoid prolonged continuous work.

3. Improper Diet

Irregular eating habits or excessive consumption of cold or spicy foods might stimulate the facial nerve, increasing nerve impulses and causing facial muscle spasms. It is important to adjust dietary habits, maintain regular meals, and avoid excessive intake of irritating foods.

4. Neurotransmitter Disorders

Neurotransmitter disorders may occur when nerves are subjected to severe trauma or stimulated by cold environments, which can cause pain and potentially lead to facial nerve twitching, along with symptoms such as pain and numbness. It is recommended to follow medical advice regarding medications such as diazepam tablets, estazolam tablets, paroxetine tablets, etc.

5. Idiopathic Facial Nerve Palsy

Viral or bacterial infections may damage facial nerve motor function, causing facial nerve paralysis and subsequent dysfunction, leading to facial twitching. This may be accompanied by abnormal facial sensations and deviation of the mouth corner. Patients should follow medical advice regarding the use of medications such as prednisolone acetate tablets, vitamin B12 injections, and zoxazolamine tablets.

In daily life, one should avoid excessive tension, anxiety, or fatigue, as these emotional states may trigger or exacerbate facial nerve twitching.
