Introduction
Under normal circumstances, itching caused by Chinese yam (Huai Shan) occurs at the contact site after exposure to the plant. To relieve the itching, methods such as rinsing with clean water, using soap, applying a cold compress,涂抹 ginger juice, or taking medications can be employed. After the itching subsides, further contact with Chinese yam should be avoided to prevent recurrence of the allergic reaction.

Generally, itching caused by Chinese yam (Huai Shan) occurs on the contacted skin area after exposure. Itching from Chinese yam can be relieved by rinsing with clean water, using soap, applying ice packs,涂抹ginger juice, or taking medications. Specific methods are as follows:

1. Rinse with clean water: Immediately rinse hands or other affected areas with running water to remove any mucus or components of yam adhering to the skin.

2. Use of soap: Washing the skin multiple times with alkaline soap can neutralize the irritants in the yam and alleviate itching. Be gentle to avoid damaging the skin.

3. Ice compress: Applying an ice pack or cold compress to the itchy area may help constrict capillaries and reduce itching and swelling.

4. Ginger juice application: Ginger contains some natural anti-inflammatory and itch-relieving components, which may help alleviate skin itching caused by Chinese yam. The exact mechanism may involve modulation of nerve endings in the skin or reduction of inflammatory responses.

5. Medication: If the itching persists, topical medications such as calamine lotion, triamcinolone acetonide cream, or hydrocortisone butyrate cream may be used under a doctor's guidance to relieve itching, allergies, and inflammation. In cases of severe allergic reactions, such as generalized itching, rash, or fever, oral antihistamines like loratadine tablets, levocetirizine hydrochloride tablets, or betahistine mesylate tablets may be taken under a doctor's supervision to combat allergic reactions.

After the itching subsides, avoid further contact with Chinese yam to prevent recurrence of allergic reactions. Additionally, wearing gloves when handling Chinese yam can reduce direct skin contact with the yam.
