Introduction
Fritillaria cirrhosa has a slightly cold nature and the effect of clearing heat and resolving phlegm. It can remove heat pathogens from the lungs, dissolve thick phlegm, and make it thinner and easier to expel through coughing. Drinking an appropriate amount of its infusion can effectively relieve symptoms such as cough due to lung heat and yellow, sticky phlegm. It is commonly used for cough and phlegm caused by conditions like wind-heat感冒 (wind-heat感冒 should be translated as "wind-heat感冒" or "wind-heat syndrome" depending on context; since it's listed alongside bronchitis, here it should be "wind-heat syndrome") and bronchitis. Fritillaria cirrhosa is also effective in moistening the lungs and relieving lung dryness.

Generally, Chuan Bei refers to Fritillaria cirrhosa, which is both a medicinal herb and food source. Drinking it steeped in water typically has effects such as clearing heat and resolving phlegm, moistening the lungs and relieving cough, dispersing nodules and reducing swelling, protecting the throat, and improving sleep.

1. Clear Heat and Resolve Phlegm

Fritillaria cirrhosa is slightly cold in nature and has the effect of clearing heat and resolving phlegm. It can remove heat pathogens from the lungs and dissolve thick phlegm, making it thinner and easier to expel. Drinking it steeped in water appropriately can effectively alleviate symptoms such as coughing due to lung heat and yellow, sticky phlegm. It is commonly used for cough and phlegm caused by conditions like wind-heat colds and bronchitis.

2. Moisturize the Lungs and Relieve Cough

Fritillaria cirrhosa is effective at moistening the lungs, helping to relieve lung dryness and symptoms of cough caused by deficiency of lung yin and dryness. It can reduce sensations of dry heat in the lungs and ease coughing symptoms. For dry cough with little or no phlegm, sticky phlegm, and dry, itchy throat, drinking water steeped with Fritillaria cirrhosa can provide good regulation. Appropriate use can achieve the purpose of relieving cough by moisturizing the lungs, suitable for chronic cough and dry cough.

3. Disperse Nodules and Reduce Swelling

Fritillaria cirrhosa has the function of dispersing nodules and reducing swelling and can be used to treat conditions such as scrofula, breast abscess (mastitis), and lung abscess caused by stagnation of phlegm-fire. Drinking it steeped in water can, to some extent, help dissipate nodules and swellings, alleviate symptoms such as redness, swelling, heat, and pain in affected areas, promote circulation of qi and blood, and relieve discomfort caused by nodules and swellings.

4. Protect the Throat

Fritillaria cirrhosa clears heat and moisturizes the lungs, thus providing moisturizing and protective effects on the throat. It can reduce throat inflammation and swelling pain, alleviate symptoms such as dry, painful throat and hoarseness caused by lung heat and dryness, help maintain throat moisture and health, and benefit people who frequently use their voice, as well as those suffering from pharyngitis and laryngitis.

5. Improve Sleep

By clearing heat, resolving phlegm, and moisturizing the lungs to relieve cough, Fritillaria cirrhosa can effectively alleviate coughing symptoms, thereby indirectly improving sleep. Additionally, its lung-moistening effect helps relax the body and mind, making breathing smoother during sleep, reducing nighttime awakenings caused by pulmonary discomfort, and enhancing sleep depth and quality.

It is recommended to drink an appropriate amount of water steeped with Fritillaria cirrhosa according to individual physical condition and health needs, without excessive intake. A light diet should generally be maintained, avoiding spicy and irritating foods.
