Having a CT scan generally refers to undergoing a CT examination. CT scans can usually detect pneumonia, and it is recommended to undergo the examination under a doctor's guidance.

When a patient is infected with bacterial, viral, or other types of pneumonia and shows significant inflammatory reactions in the lungs, such as lung consolidation, exudation, or ground-glass changes, CT scans can clearly display these lesion characteristics, assisting doctors in diagnosing pneumonia. For some early-stage pneumonia cases or patients whose conditions are progressing, CT scans can detect subtle pulmonary changes earlier than X-rays, thereby improving diagnostic accuracy.
Compared to chest X-rays, CT examinations offer greater advantages in diagnosing pneumonia. Chest X-rays may be obscured by bones, the diaphragm, the mediastinum, and other structures, affecting the clarity of lung imaging. In contrast, CT scans can more comprehensively display lung structures, detecting small inflammatory infiltration foci in the lungs and aiding in early and accurate diagnosis.
