Introduction
1. Insufficient sleep—for example, chronic late-night sleeping—can easily trigger symptoms of neurogenic migraine. 2. Heightened psychological sensitivity: Individuals with heightened emotional or psychological sensitivity are more prone to neurogenic migraine, often due to excessive stress from daily life, work, or academic demands. 3. Unhealthy lifestyle habits—such as excessive smoking—which generates harmful gases including nitric oxide and carbon monoxide.

Neuralgic headache primarily refers to tension-type headache, functional headache, and vascular neuralgic headache—most commonly triggered by mental stress or emotional upset (e.g., anger). Key symptoms include persistent dull, oppressive, or heavy head pain. Most patients experience bilateral headache, typically affecting the temples, occipital region, vertex, or the entire head. So, what causes neuralgic headache? Below we address this question.

Causes of Neuralgic Headache

1. Sleep Deprivation

Chronic sleep deprivation—such as from prolonged late-night activity—can readily trigger neuralgic migraine. When individuals consistently stay up late and fail to obtain adequate rest, their nervous system remains in a constant state of activation without sufficient recovery time, leading to sustained neural tension. Over time, this may manifest as neuralgic migraine. Moreover, with continued sleep deprivation, headache frequency tends to increase progressively, significantly impairing work performance and daily life.

2. Heightened Emotional Sensitivity

Individuals with heightened emotional sensitivity are more prone to neuralgic migraine. Excessive pressure stemming from daily life, work, or academic demands can keep the nervous system in a chronically hyperaroused state, increasing susceptibility to neuralgic migraine. Additionally, some patients exhibit pronounced emotional reactivity in daily life—such as frequent irritability or outbursts—and intense or rigid emotional states may also predispose them to neuralgic migraine.

3. Unhealthy Lifestyle Habits

Excessive smoking is one such habit: cigarette smoke contains harmful gases including nitric oxide and carbon monoxide. Nitric oxide is among the primary triggers of neuralgic migraine, while carbon monoxide—a well-known toxic gas—exacerbates headache development when acting synergistically with other factors. Furthermore, chronic heavy alcohol consumption may also provoke migraine. Some individuals regularly consume coffee; although moderate intake can enhance alertness and mental clarity, excessive consumption may precipitate migraine attacks.

The above outlines the principal causes of neuralgic headache. We hope this information proves helpful!
