Introduction
Under normal circumstances, it is acceptable to consume an appropriate amount of green tea leaves or drink green tea before bedtime. However, it is not recommended to regularly consume large quantities of green tea leaves or tea before bedtime over a long period. This is because tannic acid in the tea leaves can bind with proteins, minerals, and other nutrients in food, forming precipitates that are difficult for the body to absorb, thus affecting nutrient absorption. Long-term and excessive tea consumption may lead to problems such as iron-deficiency anemia.

Generally speaking, it is not recommended to consume green tea leaves or drink green tea before bedtime. The specific reasons are as follows:

Green tea contains caffeine, a central nervous system stimulant that increases alertness and reduces drowsiness. For most people, especially those who are more sensitive to caffeine, drinking green tea before bed may lead to difficulty falling asleep, interrupted sleep, or light sleep. Therefore, individuals in this category should avoid consuming caffeinated green tea before bedtime.

Tannic acid in tea can bind with proteins, minerals, and other nutrients in food, forming precipitates that are not easily absorbed by the human body, thereby affecting nutrient absorption. Additionally, tea has a diuretic effect; drinking tea at night can increase the burden on the kidneys, leading to frequent urination during the night and further disruption of sleep. Thus, it is also not recommended to consume green tea leaves or drink tea before bedtime.

In daily life, it is important to pay attention to the rational combination of foods, avoid excessive food intake at one time, and maintain a balanced diet.
