Introduction
If urine is not thoroughly dried with toilet paper after urination, substances such as urea and uric acid in the residual urine may crystallize on the underwear, leading to yellowing over time. After urination, wipe from front to back with clean, soft toilet paper to reduce residual urine. Change your underwear daily, wash it promptly, use a mild detergent, and air-dry it in a well-ventilated area.

Yellowing of underwear may be caused by residual urine, abnormal vaginal discharge, excessive sweating, urethritis, cystitis, etc., and appropriate management can be selected based on specific situations. If discomfort symptoms occur, timely medical attention is recommended to avoid delaying treatment.

1. Residual urine: After urination, if not thoroughly dried with toilet paper, substances like urea and uric acid in the residual urine may crystallize on the underwear, causing yellowing over time. After urination, gently wipe from front to back with clean, soft toilet paper to reduce residual urine.

2. Abnormal vaginal discharge: Around the menstrual period or ovulation, women may experience increased vaginal discharge. If this discharge stains the underwear and is not promptly cleaned, it may dry and turn yellow. Maintain good personal hygiene by washing the vulva daily with warm water to keep it clean.

3. Excessive sweating: The genital area contains many sweat glands, and increased physical activity or hot weather can cause more sweating. Sweat contains components like salt, which can leave yellow stains on underwear after drying. Choose loose, breathable cotton underwear to help sweat evaporate. Shower and change clothes promptly after exercise to reduce sweat residue on underwear.

4. Urethritis: Often caused by pathogens like bacteria, mycoplasma, or chlamydia infecting the urethra. Inflammation irritates the urethral mucosa, producing secretions that mix with urine, causing yellowing of underwear. It is often accompanied by symptoms like frequent urination, urgency, and pain during urination. Patients can take medications like levofloxacin tablets, Sanjin tablets, or cefixime capsules under a doctor's guidance to alleviate symptoms.

5. Cystitis: Bacteria may travel up the urethra and infect the bladder, causing inflammation. This may lead to congestion, swelling of the bladder mucosa, and production of inflammatory secretions that are excreted with urine, causing yellowing of underwear. Symptoms include frequent urination, urgency, painful urination, and lower abdominal pain. Patients may follow medical advice to take medications like amoxicillin capsules, nitrofurantoin enteric-coated tablets, or sodium bicarbonate tablets to relieve discomfort.

In daily life, it is recommended to maintain good personal hygiene, change underwear daily, wash promptly, and choose breathable fabric materials.
