What Causes Constant Passing of Gas?
Flatulence refers to the release of gas from the body, and continuous flatulence may be caused by consuming gas-producing foods, swallowing air, indigestion, intestinal flora imbalance, irritable bowel syndrome, and other factors. Appropriate management can be implemented according to the specific situation. If physical discomfort occurs, it is recommended to seek medical attention at a hospital as soon as possible and follow the doctor's instructions for treatment.
1. Gas-producing foods: Consuming large amounts of gas-producing foods such as legumes, onions, sweet potatoes, etc., which are broken down and fermented by bacteria in the intestines, producing significant amounts of gas and leading to frequent flatulence. Adjusting dietary habits by reducing intake of these foods and consuming more light and easily digestible foods such as porridge and noodles can help alleviate symptoms.
2. Swallowing air: Eating too quickly, talking while eating, or frequently drinking carbonated beverages may cause large amounts of air to enter the gastrointestinal tract along with food, resulting in increased flatulence. It is important to change eating habits in daily life—chewing food thoroughly, talking less during meals, and reducing consumption of carbonated drinks.
3. Indigestion: Weakened gastrointestinal motility causes food to remain in the stomach and intestines for prolonged periods without being fully digested and absorbed, leading to abnormal fermentation and gas production, which causes frequent flatulence, often accompanied by loss of appetite, bloating, and abdominal pain. Patients can take medications such as Weixiaoshi tablets (gastric digestive tablets), Domperidone tablets, or Lactobacillus tablets under a doctor's guidance to improve symptoms.
4. Imbalance of intestinal flora: Long-term use of antibiotics or irregular eating habits may disrupt the balance of intestinal flora, causing an increase in harmful bacteria, increased gas production, and persistent flatulence, which may be accompanied by diarrhea or constipation. It is recommended to follow medical advice to use medications such as Bifidobacterium quadruple strain tablets, Bacillus licheniformis capsules, or Saccharomyces boulardii powder to relieve discomfort.
5. Irritable bowel syndrome: Abnormal gastrointestinal motility or intestinal infection may increase intestinal sensitivity and gas production, resulting in persistent flatulence, often accompanied by abdominal pain, diarrhea, or constipation. Symptoms are often related to emotional factors. Patients can take medications such as Pinaverium Bromide tablets, Trimebutine Maleate tablets, or Compound Glutamine Enteric-coated Capsules under medical guidance to alleviate symptoms.
In daily life, one should maintain a light diet, avoid spicy and irritating foods such as garlic, hot pot, and mustard; also ensure adequate rest and avoid excessive fatigue to prevent adverse effects on health.
