Introduction
Eating too quickly during meals can cause large amounts of air to enter the gastrointestinal tract along with food. This gas accumulates in the intestines and is eventually expelled from the body through flatulence, often accompanied by belching. It is recommended to slow down your eating pace, chew food thoroughly, reduce air swallowing, and alleviate frequent gas expulsion. Consuming excessive amounts of gas-producing foods such as beans, onions, and sweet potatoes can also lead to increased intestinal gas, as these foods are broken down and fermented by bacteria in the intestines.

Flatulence refers to the release of gas from the digestive system through the rectum. Excessive flatulence in males may be caused by eating too quickly, consuming excessive gas-producing foods, indigestion, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), chronic gastritis, or other related conditions. Management should be based on the specific cause. It is recommended to visit a hospital promptly and follow medical advice for treatment.

1. Eating too quickly: Consuming food at a fast pace can lead to swallowing large amounts of air along with the food, which accumulates in the gastrointestinal tract and is eventually expelled as gas, often accompanied by belching. It is recommended to slow down while eating, chew food thoroughly, reduce air intake, and alleviate excessive flatulence.

2. Consuming excessive gas-producing foods: Eating too many gas-producing foods such as legumes, onions, and sweet potatoes can lead to increased flatulence. These foods are broken down and fermented by intestinal bacteria, producing large amounts of gas. A balanced diet with reduced intake of such foods and increased consumption of fiber-rich vegetables is recommended.

3. Indigestion: Slowed gastrointestinal motility or insufficient secretion of digestive enzymes can prevent proper digestion and absorption of food in the gastrointestinal tract, leading to fermentation and gas production, which results in increased flatulence. Symptoms such as bloating, loss of appetite, and nausea may also occur. Patients may take medications such as Jianwei Xiaoshi tablets, domperidone tablets, or compound digestive enzyme capsules under medical guidance to relieve symptoms.

4. Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS): This condition may be triggered by factors such as psychological stress and dietary irritation. It involves dysfunction of intestinal motility and increased intestinal sensitivity, leading to gas accumulation and flatulence. It is often accompanied by abdominal pain, diarrhea, or constipation. It is recommended to take medications such as trimebutine maleate tablets, pinaverium bromide tablets, or Bifidobacterium quadruple live tablets under medical supervision to alleviate discomfort.

5. Chronic Gastritis: Chronic inflammation of the gastric mucosa caused by Helicobacter pylori infection or poor dietary habits can impair gastric digestion, delay gastric emptying, and lead to fermentation and gas production in the intestines, resulting in increased flatulence. Symptoms such as dull upper abdominal pain, bloating, acid reflux, and belching may also occur. Patients may take medications such as omeprazole enteric-coated capsules, amoxicillin capsules, or clarithromycin capsules under medical guidance to improve symptoms.

In daily life, improving lifestyle habits and engaging in moderate physical activity, such as walking, jogging, or cycling, can help promote intestinal motility and gas expulsion.
