Introduction
The notion that sexual activity should be completely avoided during pregnancy is somewhat absolute. However, excessive or inappropriately timed sexual activity during pregnancy may increase the risks of infection, preterm birth, premature rupture of membranes, bleeding, and cervical issues. Pregnant women should maintain a positive and optimistic mindset, follow a balanced diet, engage in appropriate physical activity, undergo regular prenatal checkups, and adhere to professional medical advice to ensure the health of both mother and baby.

It is somewhat absolute to say that sexual activity should be avoided during pregnancy, but excessive or inopportune sexual activity during pregnancy may increase the risks of infection, preterm birth, premature rupture of membranes, bleeding, and cervical problems. If any abnormalities occur, prompt medical attention is recommended. A detailed analysis is as follows:

1. Risk of infection: During pregnancy, a woman's immune system is relatively weaker, and sexual activity might increase the chances of bacterial or viral infections. These infections can not only affect maternal health but also threaten the fetus, potentially leading to intrauterine infections.

2. Risk of preterm birth: Stimulation during sexual activity may cause uterine contractions, thereby increasing the risk of preterm birth. Particularly for women with a history of preterm birth or other high-risk factors, sexual activity should be approached with caution to reduce the likelihood of preterm delivery.

3. Premature rupture of membranes: Mechanical stimulation during sexual activity could lead to rupture of the fetal membranes, resulting in premature leakage of amniotic fluid. This condition increases the risk of infection and may lead to fetal distress, requiring timely medical intervention.

4. Risk of bleeding: Due to hormonal changes during pregnancy, cervical and vaginal tissues become more fragile and prone to minor injuries that may cause bleeding. Sexual activity may exacerbate this condition, especially in the third trimester, so care should be taken to avoid such situations.

5. Cervical problems: During pregnancy, the cervix becomes softer and gradually dilates in preparation for childbirth. Frequent or intense sexual activity may cause cervical inflammation or injury, which could compromise the safety of the pregnancy and even lead to miscarriage or preterm birth.

Pregnant women should maintain a positive and optimistic mindset, follow a balanced diet, engage in moderate exercise, attend regular prenatal checkups, and adhere to professional medical advice to ensure the health of both mother and baby.
