Introduction
Pulsatilla (Baitouweng) can be used to a certain extent as an adjunctive treatment for thyroid nodules, particularly for nodules caused by stagnation of qi and blood as well as accumulation of phlegm. It is not suitable for cases accompanied by obvious pain, swelling, or a tendency to bleed. When using Pulsatilla to treat thyroid nodules, one should closely monitor personal reactions and undergo regular follow-up evaluations of thyroid function and ultrasound examinations to monitor changes in the nodules.

Pulsatilla (Baitouweng) can be used as an adjunct to some extent in the treatment of thyroid nodules, particularly for nodules caused by stagnation of qi and blood and accumulation of phlegm. However, it is not suitable for cases accompanied by obvious pain or swelling, or for individuals with a tendency to bleed. If in doubt, it is recommended to seek medical advice in advance. A detailed explanation is as follows:

When thyroid nodules are caused by stagnation of qi and blood and accumulation of phlegm, Pulsatilla can exert effects of dispersing nodules, relieving pain, reducing swelling, and dissipating masses, which may help alleviate symptoms. Thyroid nodules are often induced by emotional distress, improper diet, and other factors that lead to stagnation of qi, followed by stagnation of qi and blood, and accumulation of phlegm in the neck forming nodules. Pulsatilla has certain effects of soothing the liver and regulating qi, which can promote water metabolism in the body and aid in dispersing nodules.

When thyroid nodules are accompanied by significant pain or swelling, Pulsatilla should not be used. As it is cold in nature, Pulsatilla may exacerbate internal cold pathogens, leading to worsening of symptoms such as pain or swelling. Additionally, individuals with a tendency to bleed should use Pulsatilla cautiously to avoid adverse reactions such as bleeding.

When using Pulsatilla to treat thyroid nodules, it is important to monitor personal reactions and undergo regular follow-up evaluations of thyroid function and ultrasound examinations to monitor changes in the nodules.
