Introduction
During the period of pregnancy maintenance, if a pregnant woman exhibits obvious symptoms of deficiency in both qi and blood as well as kidney essence insufficiency, such as dizziness, pallor, palpitations, and insomnia, and if a qualified traditional Chinese medicine physician confirms that prepared rehmannia (Shu Di Huang) is suitable for her current constitution, then moderate consumption of prepared rehmannia under medical guidance may be appropriate, provided her constitution is suitable and there are no other contraindications.

During the period of pregnancy maintenance, if symptoms such as blood deficiency or insufficient kidney essence occur, processed Rehmannia root (Shu Di Huang) may generally be taken. However, if there are no related medical indications, it is usually not advisable to consume Shu Di Huang. If any physical discomfort occurs, prompt medical consultation is recommended, and treatment should follow medical advice.

For pregnant women undergoing pregnancy maintenance, if significant symptoms of both qi and blood deficiency or kidney essence insufficiency appear—such as dizziness, blurred vision, pallor, palpitations, and insomnia—and if a professional TCM physician confirms that Shu Di Huang is suitable for the current body constitution, then taking an appropriate amount of Shu Di Huang under medical guidance may be acceptable. Shu Di Huang can be used as an auxiliary tonic to help stabilize the condition during pregnancy.

However, it should be noted that Shu Di Huang has a sticky and rich nature that may impair digestion. If the pregnant woman suffers from a weak spleen and stomach, taking Shu Di Huang might worsen gastrointestinal function, leading to symptoms such as indigestion and abdominal distension, which are detrimental to pregnancy maintenance. Shu Di Huang has the effect of nourishing yin and enriching blood but may also increase phlegm production and cause qi stagnation. Therefore, pregnant women with excessive phlegm and qi stagnation should avoid taking Shu Di Huang to prevent worsening of their condition.

Even if a pregnant woman is suitable for taking Shu Di Huang, she should follow the principle of moderation and avoid excessive intake that could lead to adverse reactions. During the pregnancy maintenance period, any medication or dietary adjustments should be conducted under a physician's guidance. Pregnant women should maintain healthy lifestyle habits, eat a balanced diet, engage in moderate physical activity, and attend regular prenatal checkups to ensure the health of both themselves and their fetuses.
