Can safflower be steeped in water for drinking?
Safflower can generally be consumed as an infusion, but it is important to maintain moderate intake.

As a traditional Chinese medicinal herb, safflower has functions of promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, as well as regulating menstruation and relieving pain, making it suitable for conditions caused by blood stasis. For healthy adults, moderate consumption of safflower infusion can promote blood circulation, alleviate fatigue, and is particularly suitable for women with mild blood stasis symptoms, such as irregular menstruation and dysmenorrhea. For dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, postpartum blood stasis caused by blood stasis, individuals diagnosed by TCM as having a blood stasis constitution should, under a doctor's guidance, consume safflower water in moderation to help alleviate symptoms.
It should be noted that safflower promotes blood circulation and may increase the risk of miscarriage if consumed by pregnant women. Safflower may also lead to increased menstrual flow; therefore, women during their menstrual period or those with excessive menstruation should avoid consumption. Long-term excessive consumption of safflower infusion may cause abdominal discomfort, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and even gastrointestinal bleeding as side effects. The dosage should not be excessive, and the water temperature should not be too high to avoid damaging its active ingredients.
While consuming safflower infusion, one should also avoid eating spicy, greasy, or other irritating foods, which may affect the herb's effectiveness.
