Introduction
If women experience blood stasis symptoms during menstruation, such as dark menstrual blood, blood clots, or accompanying abdominal pain, moderate consumption of Panax notoginseng (Sanqi) may help promote blood circulation and resolve blood stasis, thereby relieving discomfort. Sanqi has certain blood-activating properties that can enhance blood circulation and help improve menstrual problems caused by blood stasis. However, this is on the condition that the body does not exhibit obvious tendencies toward bleeding or other adverse symptoms, as doing so might otherwise produce counterproductive effects.

Generally, if women experience symptoms such as blood stasis during their menstrual period, they can take适量 Sanqi (Notoginseng) as directed by a physician. However, if there are conditions such as excessive menstrual bleeding or physical weakness, taking Sanqi is not recommended. If abnormalities occur, timely medical attention is advised. Detailed analysis is as follows:

If women experience symptoms of blood stasis during menstruation, such as dark menstrual blood, blood clots, or accompanying abdominal pain, taking an appropriate amount of Sanqi might help promote blood circulation and resolve blood stasis, thus relieving discomfort. Sanqi has certain blood-activating properties and can help improve menstrual problems caused by blood stasis. However, this applies only if there are no obvious bleeding tendencies or other adverse symptoms; otherwise, it may have counterproductive effects.

Conversely, if women already have excessive menstrual bleeding or physical weakness during their period, they should not consume Sanqi. Its blood-activating effect may exacerbate menstrual blood loss, leading to further weakness and even adverse reactions such as dizziness and fatigue. Those with a cold body constitution or who tend to bleed heavily during menstruation should especially avoid using Sanqi during this period.

During menstruation, it is advisable to avoid raw and cold foods, as they may stimulate uterine contractions, aggravate dysmenorrhea, or cause poor discharge of menstrual blood. It is recommended to moderately consume iron-rich foods, such as animal liver and red meat.
