Introduction
Most solid thyroid nodules are benign, such as nodular goiter and thyroid adenoma. Benign solid nodules have clear boundaries, regular shapes, homogeneous internal echoes, and lack microcalcifications or abundant blood flow signals. Patients often have no obvious symptoms and the nodules are usually detected only during physical examinations. These nodules grow slowly and have minimal impact on thyroid function.

Generally, a solid thyroid nodule refers to a nodule mainly composed of solid tissue with no or only minimal cystic components. It appears as homogeneous or heterogeneous solid echoes during ultrasound examination and its nature needs to be assessed in combination with other characteristics. If abnormalities are detected, timely medical consultation is recommended. Detailed analysis is as follows:

Most solid thyroid nodules are benign, such as nodular goiter and thyroid adenoma. Benign solid nodules usually have clear boundaries, regular shapes, homogeneous internal echoes, and lack microcalcifications or abundant blood flow signals. Patients often experience no obvious symptoms and the nodules are usually detected only during physical examinations. These nodules grow slowly and have minimal impact on thyroid function. Regular ultrasound follow-ups to monitor changes are usually sufficient, and no specific treatment is generally required.

A minority of solid thyroid nodules may be malignant, i.e., thyroid cancer. Malignant nodules often appear on ultrasound as having blurred margins, irregular shape, heterogeneous internal echoes, accompanied by microcalcifications, abnormal纵横 ratio (height-to-width ratio), and abundant blood flow signals. Patients typically have no significant discomfort, although some may feel a painless neck mass. As the disease progresses, symptoms such as hoarseness and difficulty swallowing may occur. If ultrasound suggests malignant features in a solid nodule, further fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) is required for definitive diagnosis. Once confirmed, early surgical treatment should be performed promptly.

After discovering a solid thyroid nodule, it is important to maintain a positive mindset and seek timely consultation at a thyroid specialty clinic. In daily life, maintain a regular作息 schedule, follow a balanced diet, and avoid exposure to excessive radiation.
