Patients may take medications such as Er Miao Wan, Si Miao Wan, Long Dan Xie Gan Wan, Ba Zheng Granules, and Sophora Flavescens Capsules as directed by a physician.

Generally, damp-heat in the lower jiao manifesting as scrotal dampness is mostly caused by pathogenic damp-heat accumulating in the lower jiao and affecting the genital area. Common accompanying symptoms include a sticky and itchy scrotum, short and red urine, bitter taste in the mouth, and sticky, unsatisfactory bowel movements. Patients may take medications such as Er Miao Wan (Two Marvels Pill), Si Miao Wan (Four Marvels Pill), Long Dan Xie Gan Wan (Dragon胆Liver-Draining Pill), Ba Zheng Ke Li (Eight Correcting Granules), and Ku Shen Jiao Nang (Sophora Flavescens Capsules) according to medical advice. Detailed explanations are as follows:

1. Er Miao Wan

Er Miao Wan consists of Atractylodes and Phellodendron, and functions to clear heat and dry dampness. Phellodendron, which is bitter and cold in nature, clears heat, dries dampness, drains fire, and detoxifies, particularly effective for damp-heat in the lower jiao. Atractylodes, bitter and warm, dries dampness and strengthens the spleen. Together, these two ingredients effectively eliminate damp-heat from the lower jiao. It is indicated for symptoms such as scrotal dampness, redness and pain in the feet and knees, and short red urine caused by damp-heat in the lower jiao.

2. Si Miao Wan

Si Miao Wan is based on Er Miao Wan with the addition of Coix seed and Achyranthes root, enhancing its ability to clear heat and remove dampness. Coix seed strengthens the spleen, removes dampness, clears heat, and promotes pus discharge. Achyranthes root nourishes the liver and kidneys, strengthens tendons and bones, and directs the medicine downward to reach the lower jiao directly. It is suitable for conditions dominated by damp-heat in the lower jiao, accompanied by scrotal dampness, weakness of the lower limbs, and difficult urination. It is especially suitable for bi syndrome caused by downward invasion of damp-heat.

3. Long Dan Xie Gan Wan

Long Dan Xie Gan Wan contains ingredients such as Gentiana, Bupleurum, Scutellaria, Gardenia, and others, and functions to clear heat and drain dampness from the liver and gallbladder. Gentiana clears excessive fire from the liver and gallbladder and eliminates damp-heat in the lower jiao. Scutellaria and Gardenia clear heat, drain fire, dry dampness, and detoxify. Together, these ingredients effectively clear damp-heat from the lower jiao. It is indicated for symptoms such as scrotal dampness, bitter taste in the mouth, flank pain, and short red urine caused by downward invasion of damp-heat from the liver and gallbladder.

4. Ba Zheng Ke Li

Ba Zheng Ke Li consists of Dianthus, Plantago seed, Polygonum aviculare, Talc, and other ingredients, and functions to clear heat, promote urination, and relieve dysuria. Dianthus and Polygonum aviculare promote urination, relieve dysuria, clear heat, and dry dampness. Talc promotes diuresis, removes dampness, clears heat, and alleviates summerheat. Together, they clear damp-heat from the lower jiao and promote smooth urination. It is indicated for scrotal dampness caused by damp-heat in the lower jiao, accompanied by symptoms of heat-induced dysuria such as short red urine, painful and difficult urination, and dry mouth and throat.

5. Ku Shen Jiao Nang

Ku Shen Jiao Nang's main ingredient is Sophora flavescens, which functions to clear heat, dry dampness, and kill parasites. Sophora flavescens is bitter and cold in nature, and enters the heart, liver, stomach, large intestine, and bladder meridians. It is particularly effective in clearing heat and drying dampness, and eliminating damp-heat from the lower jiao. It is indicated for scrotal dampness and itching caused by damp-heat in the lower jiao, as well as symptoms such as damp-heat dysentery and jaundice with dark urine.

Maintain good daily habits, keep the scrotal area clean and dry, change cotton breathable underwear regularly, and avoid prolonged sitting.
