Contraindications for Bacillus licheniformis Live Capsules
Bacillus licheniformis live bacterial capsules are a probiotic preparation that exerts antagonistic effects against pathogenic bacteria in the human body while promoting the growth of beneficial bacteria—such as Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus—thereby helping to restore and maintain intestinal microbial balance.
These capsules are primarily indicated for the treatment of acute or chronic enteritis and diarrhea caused by bacterial or fungal infections, and may also be used to prevent and treat intestinal dysbiosis resulting from other etiologies.
The optimal time to take Bacillus licheniformis live bacterial capsules is approximately 30 minutes before a meal. Probiotics function by breaking down and transforming food components within the gastrointestinal tract; if administered immediately after eating, a large proportion of the viable bacteria may fail to exert their intended physiological effects and instead be rapidly eliminated via the excretory system, significantly compromising therapeutic efficacy.
Furthermore, insufficient interval between drug administration and subsequent meals may impair colonization and proliferation of beneficial bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract, thereby reducing clinical effectiveness. Avoid using excessively hot water when taking this medication—never dissolve or swallow it with hot water, as high temperatures can kill the live bacterial component. Concurrent use with antibiotics is strictly contraindicated, as antibiotics may inactivate the probiotic bacteria and diminish therapeutic effect. Similarly, co-administration with activated charcoal or tannic acid preparations is prohibited.
