Can Ginling and ibuprofen be taken together?
Generally, it is not recommended to take Ganmaoling and ibuprofen together. Ganmaoling itself contains antipyretic and analgesic ingredients that can relieve symptoms such as fever and headache caused by the common cold, so there is no need to take ibuprofen additionally. If enhanced effects are required due to severe symptoms, the two medications should be taken at intervals to avoid drug overdose.
Ganmaoling is a compound preparation containing paracetamol. This ingredient has effects similar to ibuprofen, both providing antipyretic and analgesic benefits. Taking both medications simultaneously is equivalent to combining similar drugs, which increases the metabolic burden on the liver and kidneys and may cause gastrointestinal discomfort, such as nausea and stomach pain, even increasing the risk of adverse drug reactions.
If symptoms of fever or pain are not relieved after taking Ganmaoling, ibuprofen can be taken again 4-6 hours later. By then, the previous medication will have been partially metabolized, reducing the risk associated with overlapping ingredients. The dosage must strictly follow the instructions provided in the product leaflet, without arbitrary adjustments, to avoid bodily harm due to excessive dosage.
For everyday colds with mild symptoms, it is preferable to prioritize symptom relief through drinking plenty of warm water, ensuring adequate rest, and maintaining a light diet. If medication is necessary, opt for single-ingredient drugs or compound medications with clearly defined components first, avoiding indiscriminate combination of multiple drugs to ensure safe medication use.
