Introduction

Patients with pulpitis should eat warm or cool soft foods, vitamin-rich foods, light and easily digestible foods, high-calcium tooth-protecting foods, and liquid or semi-liquid foods. If severe tooth pain worsens, or if facial swelling or fever occurs, prompt consultation with a dentist is recommended.

1. Warm or cool soft foods: such as steamed pumpkin, cooked soft noodles, mashed yam, and bananas. The moderate temperature helps avoid stimulating the dental pulp and worsening pain, while the soft texture requires no strenuous chewing, reducing occlusal pressure on the affected tooth and alleviating discomfort.

2. Vitamin-rich foods: such as carrots, tomatoes, apples (steamed), and oranges (squeezed into juice and consumed warm or cool). Vitamins enhance the resistance of teeth and gum tissues, help reduce inflammatory responses in the pulp, and support local tissue repair.

3. Light and easily digestible foods: such as millet porridge, vegetable congee, steamed fish, and tofu. These foods contain no spicy or irritating ingredients that could trigger pulp pain, and their easy digestibility ensures efficient nutrient absorption, aiding recovery from inflammation.

4. High-calcium tooth-protecting foods: such as milk, yogurt (at room temperature), cooked soft soy products, and leafy green vegetables. Calcium is a key component of teeth; adequate calcium intake strengthens tooth structure, reduces tooth fragility caused by inflammation, and supports overall dental health.

5. Liquid or semi-liquid foods: such as vegetable soup, lotus root powder, soy milk (warm or cool), and thin porridge. These require no chewing, minimizing stress on the teeth and preventing irritation of the dental pulp. They also help maintain hydration and a moist oral environment.

Daily care includes gently rinsing the mouth with warm saline solution to maintain oral hygiene, avoiding chewing with the affected tooth, brushing teeth gently while avoiding the painful area, and undergoing regular dental check-ups. Prompt treatment of any dental issues is essential to prevent worsening of the condition.
