Is there any interaction between Roxithromycin and the 13-valent vaccine?
Roxithromycin and the 13-valent vaccine generally do not conflict, but should be used according to medical advice. If persistent high fever or severe rash occurs after vaccination, prompt medical attention is recommended.
In terms of mechanism of action, roxithromycin exerts its antibacterial effect by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, which is effective only against bacteria and does not affect the antigen components in the vaccine. The 13-valent vaccine introduces specific pathogen antigens to stimulate the body to produce specific antibodies, thereby providing preventive protection. Antibacterial drugs neither damage the antigenic structure of the vaccine nor interfere with the process of antibody production.

It should be noted that if roxithromycin is being taken for an acute bacterial infection accompanied by symptoms such as fever or severe cough, it is advisable to postpone receiving the 13-valent vaccine until the infection is under control and symptoms have subsided. This helps prevent confusion between adverse reactions to the vaccine and symptoms of the ongoing infection. However, if roxithromycin is being used prophylactically or the infection has nearly resolved, vaccination according to schedule is generally safe.
After routine vaccination, keep the injection site clean and dry, avoid scratching, maintain a light and easily digestible diet, get adequate rest, and avoid strenuous exercise. At the same time, take roxithromycin as prescribed without stopping or adjusting the dosage arbitrarily, to support both recovery and optimal vaccine effectiveness.
