Introduction
During stone passage, if the stone is small and there are no obvious symptoms such as pain or hematuria, it is acceptable to have sex in moderation. However, if you experience flank or abdominal pain, hematuria, or fever, sexual activity is not recommended, as it may worsen discomfort or interfere with stone passage. If pain intensifies or hematuria increases after sexual activity, prompt medical attention is advised. This applies when the stone is small and there are no significant symptoms.

During the stone-passing period, if the stone is small and there are no obvious symptoms such as pain or hematuria, moderate sexual activity may be acceptable. However, if you experience back or abdominal pain, hematuria, or fever, sexual activity is not recommended, as it may worsen discomfort or interfere with stone passage. If pain intensifies or hematuria increases, prompt medical attention is advised.

When the stone is small and asymptomatic, moderate sexual activity generally does not affect stone passage and may even slightly promote stone movement through physical activity. However, frequency and intensity should be controlled to avoid excessive strain, which could shift the stone's position and trigger sudden pain.

If you have severe back or abdominal colic, visible blood in urine, or fever due to a urinary tract infection caused by the stone, sexual activity may irritate the urinary tract mucosa, exacerbate pain and bleeding, and potentially spread the infection, hindering recovery. It is advisable to wait until symptoms subside before resuming sexual activity.

During the stone-passing period, drink plenty of warm water—aim for 2,000–3,000 mL daily—to help flush out the stone. Maintain a light diet and avoid foods high in oxalates and calcium. Engage in mild physical activities such as walking, but avoid strenuous exercise to support a smooth stone elimination process.
