Introduction
Hemorrhoids have a relatively high recurrence rate. If lifestyle adjustments are not maintained after treatment, they can easily reoccur; however, long-term proper care can effectively reduce the risk of recurrence. Daily care should be approached from multiple aspects: increase dietary fiber intake, eat more fruits and vegetables, and drink plenty of water; avoid prolonged squatting during bowel movements, limiting time on the toilet to within 5 minutes; and clean the anal area with warm water daily.

Hemorrhoids have a relatively high recurrence rate. If lifestyle habits are not improved after treatment, they can easily reoccur; however, maintaining proper long-term care can effectively reduce the risk of recurrence. Detailed analysis is as follows:

Recurrence often occurs when treatment is incomplete or triggering factors persist. Some patients stop treatment once symptoms improve, failing to fully address the underlying lesions. Combined with persistent risk factors such as prolonged sitting, constipation, and consumption of spicy foods, the anal veins continue to be irritated, leading to congestion and dilation of the venous plexus, which may trigger a recurrence of hemorrhoids, accompanied by symptoms such as rectal bleeding and swelling pain.

Standardized treatment combined with lifestyle adjustments can reduce recurrence. After completely removing the lesions through surgery or medication, avoiding prolonged sitting or standing, maintaining regular bowel movements, and preventing constipation and diarrhea from irritating the anal area can significantly lower the likelihood of recurrence—some individuals may even remain recurrence-free for extended periods.

Daily care should be comprehensive: increase dietary fiber intake by eating more fruits and vegetables and drinking plenty of water; avoid prolonged straining during bowel movements, limiting time on the toilet to within 5 minutes; clean the anal area daily with warm water to maintain hygiene and dryness; and perform regular Kegel (anal lift) exercises to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles around the anus.
