Introduction
During withdrawal bleeding, avoid raw, cold, and cooling foods, spicy and irritating foods, high-sugar and high-fat foods, blood-activating foods, and alcoholic beverages. Avoiding these appropriately can reduce physical discomfort and help maintain menstrual health. If you experience heavy bleeding, prolonged duration, or severe abdominal pain, seek medical attention promptly. Examples of raw, cold, and cooling foods include ice cream, chilled drinks, and sashimi.

During withdrawal bleeding, it is advisable to avoid raw, cold, and cooling foods; spicy and irritating foods; high-sugar and high-fat foods; blood-activating foods; and alcoholic beverages. Avoiding these appropriately can reduce physical discomfort and support menstrual health. If bleeding is heavy, lasts excessively long, or is accompanied by severe abdominal pain, prompt medical attention is recommended.

1. Raw, cold, and cooling foods: Such as ice cream, chilled drinks, and sashimi, may constrict blood vessels and interfere with menstrual discharge. These foods may worsen dysmenorrhea and cold uterus (gonghan), lead to poor menstrual flow or increased blood clots, and prolong the bleeding period.

2. Spicy and irritating foods: Such as chili peppers, Sichuan pepper, and raw garlic, may stimulate pelvic congestion, exacerbate vaginal bleeding, and potentially cause gastrointestinal discomfort, impairing nutrient absorption and utilization.

3. High-sugar and high-fat foods: Such as cakes, fried foods, and fatty meats, can cause blood sugar fluctuations and metabolic disturbances. These may increase menstrual fatigue and edema, disrupt endocrine balance, and hinder recovery from bleeding symptoms.

4. Blood-activating foods: Such as angelica (Danggui), safflower (Honghua), and longan (Guizhi), promote blood circulation and may increase the volume and duration of withdrawal bleeding, raising the risk of anemia.

5. Alcoholic beverages: Alcohol dilates blood vessels, intensifying pelvic congestion and increasing bleeding. It may also affect liver metabolism, disrupt hormonal balance, and worsen menstrual discomfort.

Diet during withdrawal bleeding should be light and easily digestible, with emphasis on protein- and iron-rich foods. Keep the abdomen warm to prevent chilling, maintain a regular sleep schedule, avoid excessive fatigue, and practice good personal hygiene to prevent infection.
