How to quickly relactate after milk supply has decreased
After weaning, milk supply can generally be quickly restored through methods such as increasing breastfeeding frequency, prolonging sucking time, maintaining adequate nutrition and hydration, stabilizing emotions, and scientifically massaging the breasts. Milk production can gradually improve in line with the body's recovery patterns. It is important to consistently apply correct techniques and avoid blind experimentation. If there is no improvement after one week of efforts, or if symptoms such as breast engorgement or fever occur, prompt medical consultation is recommended.
1. Increase breastfeeding frequency: Breastfeed on demand every 2–3 hours, including during the night. Frequent sucking by the baby stimulates the mammary glands, signaling the body to recognize the need for increased milk production and gradually boosting milk supply.
2. Prolong sucking time: Allow the baby to suckle for 20–30 minutes per feeding session, ensuring both breasts are fully drained. This promotes通畅 (unobstructed) milk ducts and continuous milk secretion, preventing reduced supply due to inadequate stimulation.

3. Maintain proper nutrition and hydration: Consume protein-rich foods such as meat, fish, eggs, dairy, and soups like pig's trotter soup or crucian carp soup. Maintain daily fluid intake above 2,000 mL to provide sufficient raw materials and hydration for milk production.
4. Stabilize emotions: Negative emotions such as anxiety, stress, or depression can inhibit prolactin secretion and reduce milk supply. Maintaining a positive mood and relieving stress through adequate rest and emotional support help create favorable conditions for lactation.
5. Scientific breast massage: Before breastfeeding, apply a warm towel to heat the breasts, then gently massage from the base of the breast toward the nipple. This helps clear blocked ducts, prevent milk stasis, and stimulate reflexive milk secretion.
During the process of restoring milk supply, ensure more than 8 hours of sleep daily and avoid excessive fatigue; wear loose, comfortable nursing bras to prevent breast compression; after each feeding, express any remaining milk to prevent blocked ducts and maintain optimal milk production.
