What are the requirements for prenatal health checkups?
Pre-pregnancy checkups are suitable for individuals who are married and planning to conceive, within the optimal childbearing age range, free from acute infectious diseases, not currently pregnant, and without contraindications for testing. Eligible individuals can undergo examinations to assess reproductive health risks. Those with chronic conditions or special health concerns are advised to consult a healthcare provider in advance.
1. Married and planning pregnancy: Applicants must be legally married couples with a near-term intention to conceive. The examination aims to identify factors that may affect fertility and fetal health, thereby supporting healthy conception and pregnancy.
2. Within optimal childbearing age: It is recommended that women be between 20–35 years old and men between 25–40 years old. Individuals in this age range generally have better physical function, making test results more reliable for guiding fertility planning.

3. Free from acute infectious diseases: Acute illnesses such as influenza, pneumonia, or acute gastroenteritis must be ruled out prior to testing. Undergoing tests during an active infection may compromise result accuracy and increase physical strain.
4. Not currently pregnant: Pregnancy must be excluded before testing. Certain tests may pose risks to the developing fetus. It is recommended to complete pre-pregnancy checkups 3–6 months prior to attempting conception.
5. No contraindications for testing: Individuals should not have severe liver or kidney dysfunction, coagulation disorders, or other medical conditions that could interfere with testing. There should also be no known allergies to reagents used in the tests, ensuring the safety of the examination process.
One to two days before the examination, maintain a light diet, avoiding spicy, greasy foods, alcohol, and staying up late. Women should schedule testing outside their menstrual period. On the day of the exam, remain fasting and bring previous medical records for the physician’s reference.
