What are the manifestations of somatization episodes?
Physical symptom episodes may manifest as discomfort in the urogenital system, metabolic and temperature abnormalities, neurological and sensory disturbances, head and facial symptoms, and general bodily discomfort. These symptoms lack evidence of clear organic pathology and tend to recur repeatedly. If symptoms persistently affect daily life, timely medical consultation is recommended.
1. Urogenital discomfort: Women may experience menstrual irregularities, dysmenorrhea, vulvar itching, or abnormal vaginal discharge; men may have frequent urination, urgency, discomfort during urination, or reduced sexual function. However, relevant examinations reveal no definite lesions in the urinary or reproductive systems.
2. Metabolic and temperature abnormalities: Recurrent unexplained low-grade fever or subjective sensation of heat, although body temperature readings are mostly within the normal range. This may be accompanied by unexplained weight changes, excessive sweating, or night sweats—symptoms resembling metabolic disorders but without identifiable underlying causes.

3. Neurological and sensory disturbances: Common symptoms include dizziness, memory decline, difficulty concentrating, limb numbness, tremors, or abnormal sensations. Some individuals may suffer from insomnia, vivid dreams, light sleep, and easy awakening. Neurological examinations show no abnormal signs.
4. Head and facial symptoms: Recurrent headaches or dizziness, facial numbness or burning sensations, and possibly eyelid swelling, dry or irritated eyes, oral odor, or a sensation of a foreign body in the throat. Specialty evaluations fail to identify any organic issues.
5. Generalized bodily discomfort: Persistent fatigue, weakness, and lack of energy that do not significantly improve with rest, possibly accompanied by unexplained anxiety or feelings of impending doom. Multiple physical complaints exist but cannot be explained by a single medical condition.
