Can patients with a stye eat cake?
Patients with styes can consume a small amount of cake. Moderate consumption will not directly worsen the condition, but excessive intake or choosing overly sweet cakes should be avoided to prevent adverse effects on metabolism and inflammation recovery. If eye redness or discomfort increases after eating cake, medical attention is recommended promptly.

Cake is primarily made from flour, sugar, cream, and similar ingredients. Excessive consumption of sweets can cause blood glucose fluctuations, potentially reducing the body's resistance and impairing inflammation resolution. It may also increase metabolic burden on the eyes, delaying recovery.
Overly sweet cakes may stimulate sebaceous gland secretion, increasing oil buildup around the eyes and raising the risk of bacterial growth. Especially when a stye has not fully healed, this could indirectly impair wound healing or lead to recurrent infection. Consuming a small amount of mild-flavored cake generally has minimal impact on the condition.
Choose low-sugar, light varieties of cake and limit portion size to no more than a small piece at a time. Maintain a generally light diet, emphasizing vegetables, fruits, and protein-rich foods. Avoid spicy and greasy foods, drink plenty of water, and support inflammation resolution and overall recovery.
