The effect of doxycycline
Doxycycline is used to treat bacterial infections, inhibit mycoplasma and chlamydia infections, prevent and treat rickettsial diseases, assist in acne treatment, and control parasitic infections. As a broad-spectrum antibiotic, it should be strictly used according to medical indications. If severe rash, vomiting, or allergic reactions occur after taking the medication, prompt medical attention is recommended.
1. Treatment of bacterial infections: It is effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and can be used for respiratory, urinary, and gastrointestinal tract infections. It exerts its antibacterial effect by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis.
2. Inhibition of mycoplasma and chlamydia infections: It is commonly used for conditions such as mycoplasma pneumonia and chlamydial urethritis, effectively suppressing the replication of mycoplasma and chlamydia and alleviating associated inflammatory symptoms.

3. Prevention and treatment of rickettsial diseases: It can be used for the treatment and prevention of rickettsial infections such as epidemic typhus and scrub typhus, helping to improve symptoms like fever and rash caused by these pathogens.
4. Adjunctive acne treatment: It inhibits Propionibacterium acnes, reduces skin inflammation, and can be used as an adjunctive therapy for moderate to severe acne, especially in cases with prominent inflammatory lesions.
5. Control of parasitic infections: It can serve as an adjunctive treatment for malaria and is also effective against parasitic infections such as lymphatic filariasis and pinworm infection by interfering with parasite metabolism to control the infection.
The medication should be taken in full prescribed doses and for the complete duration as directed by a physician; do not discontinue or reduce the dose without medical advice. Avoid taking it with milk or calcium supplements, as they may impair absorption. Maintain a light diet, drink plenty of water to promote drug metabolism, and reduce gastrointestinal irritation.
