How many doses of omalizumab are needed before it becomes effective?
Omalizumab usually shows initial effects after 2–4 injections. When used to treat moderate-to-severe allergic asthma or chronic spontaneous urticaria, it must be administered regularly according to the prescribed course to maintain therapeutic efficacy. If symptoms do not improve or adverse reactions occur after 6 injections, prompt medical evaluation is recommended.

Omalizumab works by specifically binding to IgE antibodies. As the drug requires time to gradually reach an effective concentration in the body, it does not take effect immediately. Patients with moderate-to-severe allergic asthma often experience relief from wheezing and coughing after 2–3 injections, while patients with chronic spontaneous urticaria may notice reduced itching and hives after 3–4 injections.
The onset of action also depends on disease severity and individual response to the medication. Patients with milder conditions or lower IgE levels may show significant improvement after just 2 injections, whereas those with more complex conditions or comorbidities may require more than 4 injections. Dosage frequency and treatment duration should be adjusted according to medical advice.
During treatment, injections must be administered strictly as prescribed—do not discontinue or adjust the dose without guidance. Avoid exposure to allergens to minimize symptom triggers. Maintain a regular sleep schedule, balanced diet, and engage in moderate, gentle exercise to strengthen overall health and support stable therapeutic outcomes.
