Introduction
Darker cupping marks usually indicate poor local circulation of qi and blood, more severe blood stasis, and may also suggest a significant presence of cold and dampness in the body. If the dark marks persist for a prolonged period or are accompanied by abnormal symptoms such as local pain, swelling, or skin damage, medical evaluation should be sought promptly. When the circulation of qi and blood is impaired, metabolic waste in local tissues cannot be effectively removed, making it easier for blood stasis to develop.

The darker the cupping marks, the more likely there is poor local circulation of qi and blood, significant blood stasis, or a heavy presence of cold and dampness in the body. If the dark spots persist for a long time after cupping, or are accompanied by abnormal symptoms such as local pain, swelling, or skin damage, medical evaluation should be sought promptly.

When the flow of qi and blood is obstructed, metabolic waste in local tissues cannot be effectively removed, making it easier for blood stasis to form. The negative pressure effect of cupping draws this stasis to the surface, appearing as dark marks; generally, the darker the color, the more severe the degree of stagnation. In cases of excessive internal cold and dampness, these pathogenic factors can impede the normal circulation of qi and blood, also resulting in deep black marks after cupping. Such individuals may additionally experience symptoms like heaviness in the limbs, aversion to cold, and sensitivity to chilly environments.

After cupping, it is important to keep the treated area warm to avoid aggravating discomfort. Avoid bathing within four hours, especially with cold water. Drinking warm water moderately can help promote metabolism. Do not scratch or press on the marked areas—allow the skin to heal naturally. Seek timely medical attention if any abnormalities occur during recovery.
