Introduction
Hand plumpness may be caused by genetic factors, overeating, lack of physical activity, rheumatoid arthritis, hypothyroidism, etc., and can be improved through dietary adjustments, increased exercise, medication, and other methods. If hand plumpness is accompanied by pain, stiffness, or continuous worsening, prompt medical attention is necessary. Some individuals naturally have a higher concentration of fat in the hands or thicker bones, resulting in a naturally fuller hand appearance.

Hand swelling or plumpness may result from genetic factors, excessive eating, lack of physical activity, rheumatoid arthritis, hypothyroidism, and other causes. It can be improved through dietary adjustments, increased exercise, and medical treatment. If hand swelling is accompanied by pain, stiffness, or continuous worsening, prompt medical attention is necessary.

1. Genetic factors: Some individuals are naturally predisposed to dense fat distribution in the hands or have broader bones, leading to a plumper hand appearance without other discomforts. It is recommended to avoid heavy hand-loading exercises and instead perform hand stretching and massage to promote circulation and improve hand contour.

2. Excessive eating: Long-term consumption of high-calorie, high-carbohydrate diets can lead to overall body fat accumulation, including in the hands, often accompanied by overweight. It is advised to control total calorie intake, reduce sweets and fried foods, and increase consumption of whole grains, vegetables, and fruits.

3. Lack of physical activity: Prolonged sitting and limited hand movement can lead to fat accumulation and poor blood circulation, which may exacerbate a feeling of swelling. It is recommended to increase hand activities such as fist clenching and finger extension exercises, playing piano, etc., along with full-body workouts to reduce overall body fat.

4. Rheumatoid arthritis: An autoimmune disorder causing joint inflammation, resulting in swollen and stiff finger joints, making the hands appear larger overall. Stiffness may improve after movement. It is recommended to take medications such as ibuprofen sustained-release capsules, methotrexate tablets, and leflunomide tablets under a doctor’s guidance to alleviate symptoms.

5. Hypothyroidism: Insufficient thyroid hormone secretion slows metabolism, leading to sodium and water retention and fat accumulation. This can cause hand swelling and puffiness, often accompanied by cold intolerance and fatigue. Patients may take levothyroxine sodium tablets, thyroid tablets, or Jin Kui Shen Qi Pills as directed by a physician to relieve symptoms.

For daily care, maintain a balanced diet, reduce intake of high-salt foods to prevent edema, consistently practice hand stretching and full-body exercise to enhance circulation and metabolism, keep hands warm, avoid maintaining the same posture for long periods, and protect overall hand health.
