How to regulate qi and blood deficiency
Improving Qi and blood deficiency can be achieved through dietary supplementation, herbal therapy, regular physical activity, proper sleep-wake routines, and acupoint massage—nourishing the internal organs from multiple dimensions (diet, lifestyle, and physical therapy) to promote the generation and circulation of Qi and blood. If chronic constitutional weakness persists without improvement, timely medical consultation is essential for pattern differentiation and targeted treatment.
1. Dietary supplementation: Incorporate blood-nourishing foods such as red meat, jujube (Chinese date), and longan fruit into daily meals. Maintain regular, balanced meals—avoiding raw, cold, or spicy foods—to strengthen Spleen and Stomach function, thereby providing a solid nutritional foundation for Qi and blood production.
2. Herbal therapy: Select appropriate Qi- and blood-tonifying herbs based on individual severity of deficiency. Herbal formulas gently nourish the five Zang organs and unblock meridians to improve Qi and blood circulation, alleviating symptoms associated with Qi and blood deficiency—including sallow complexion, fatigue, and general weakness.

3. Regular exercise: Engage in gentle, low-impact activities such as slow jogging or Baduanjin (Eight Brocades). These practices enhance systemic Qi and blood circulation and strengthen organ function. Avoid intense or exhausting exercise, which may deplete Qi and blood; instead, consistent light activity gradually improves Qi and blood abundance.
4. Sleep-wake routine: Prioritize early bedtime and avoid staying up late. Nighttime is a critical period for organ-based blood production; adequate sleep minimizes Qi and blood depletion, while preventing overexertion helps preserve the body’s Qi and blood reserves—thereby relieving symptoms of constitutional weakness and mental lethargy.
5. Acupoint massage: Gently massage key acupoints—such as Zusanli (ST36) and Sanyinjiao (SP6)—on a daily basis to unblock meridian obstructions and facilitate Qi and blood delivery throughout the body, improving manifestations of Qi and blood deficiency including cold extremities, dizziness, and shortness of breath.
When regulating Qi and blood in daily life, avoid rushing for quick results. Balance dietary supplementation with sufficient rest, minimize excessive mental strain (which consumes Qi and blood), and commit to long-term, gentle nurturing to gradually restore a stable, abundant Qi-and-blood state.
