Introduction
Premature ejaculation may result from excessive psychological tension, infrequent sexual activity, prostatitis, balanitis, or abnormal excitability of the ejaculatory center. It can be improved through psychological adjustment, appropriate scheduling of sexual activity, and targeted medication. If this condition persists long-term, prompt medical consultation is recommended.

Premature ejaculation (PE) may result from excessive psychological tension, infrequent sexual activity, prostatitis, balanitis, or abnormal excitability of the ejaculatory center. It can be improved through psychological adjustment, appropriate scheduling of sexual activity, and targeted medication. If PE persists over a prolonged period, timely medical consultation is essential.

  1. Excessive psychological tension: Significant psychological stress during intercourse—such as anxiety—can interfere with neural signal regulation. This leads to diminished control over ejaculation, resulting in premature ejaculation. It is recommended to relax mentally before intercourse, reduce psychological burden, and enhance communication and mutual reassurance between partners.

  2. Infrequent sexual activity: Prolonged abstinence significantly increases genital sensitivity. Even minor stimulation may trigger the ejaculatory reflex, leading to premature ejaculation. Maintaining moderate, regular sexual activity helps reduce local sensitivity and improve adaptation to sexual stimuli.

  3. Prostatitis: Inflammatory changes in the prostate gland cause local congestion and edema, stimulating nerves involved in ejaculation. This impairs ejaculatory control and may be accompanied by perineal heaviness or urinary discomfort. Under physician guidance, medications such as tamsulosin sustained-release capsules, levofloxacin tablets, and celecoxib capsules may be prescribed to alleviate symptoms.

  4. Balanitis: Inflammation of the glans penis leads to mucosal hyperemia and heightened sensitivity, reducing tolerance to external stimuli. Rapid ejaculation may occur upon contact, often accompanied by glans erythema and mild pruritus or stinging. Under medical supervision, topical agents such as erythromycin ointment or mupirocin ointment, or oral itraconazole capsules, may be used to relieve symptoms.

  5. Abnormal excitability of the ejaculatory center: Dysregulation of the brain’s ejaculatory center results in a lowered excitatory threshold; even minimal sexual stimulation may trigger ejaculation, and this pattern tends to recur. Under physician guidance, medications such as dapoxetine tablets, sertraline tablets, or compounded lidocaine-prilocaine cream may be prescribed. Additionally, patients should maintain regular physical exercise, ensure adequate sleep, avoid frequent masturbation, cultivate a positive mental state, and support overall genitourinary health.
