Introduction
Recovery Time for Closed-System Chest Tube Drainage in Pneumothorax: For pneumothorax treated with closed-system chest tube drainage, recovery typically takes approximately one week. Generally, bubbling in the water-seal bottle ceases after 3–4 days. Once no further air leakage is observed in the water-seal bottle, the chest tube may be removed after a 24-hour observation period. After tube removal, patients should avoid vigorous coughing and activities involving forced exhalation (e.g., blowing up balloons). Most patients can resume normal physical activity within two weeks.

For pneumothorax, closed thoracic drainage is performed, and recovery typically takes approximately one week.Thoracentesis or closed thoracic drainage is indicated when the pneumothorax volume exceeds 30%. The drainage tube is generally inserted at the intersection of the midclavicular line and the second intercostal space on the affected side. Patients are advised to cough frequently and perform balloon-blowing exercises to facilitate earlier pulmonary re-expansion.Typically, bubbling in the water-seal bottle ceases after three to four days. Once no further air bubbles appear in the water-seal bottle, the chest tube may be removed after a 24-hour observation period. After tube removal, patients should avoid vigorous coughing and refrain from balloon-blowing exercises; by two weeks post-procedure, most activities can be resumed normally.
