Is myocarditis serious?
Myocarditis varies widely in severity: mild cases generally have a favorable prognosis, whereas severe cases can be life-threatening, making it a cardiac inflammatory disease that warrants close attention. Most mild cases recover fully, while a small number of critical cases may result in myocardial damage and impaired cardiac function. During the acute phase, strict bed rest is the cornerstone of therapy, supplemented by medications aimed at nourishing the myocardium and controlling arrhythmias to stabilize cardiac function. Patients with concurrent infections also receive appropriate antimicrobial therapy. During the recovery phase, regular follow-up assessments—including serial measurements of myocardial biomarkers and electrocardiograms—are essential to guide gradual resumption of physical activity based on individual recovery progress, thereby minimizing the risk of relapse due to overexertion.
In daily life, ensure sufficient rest, maintain a light yet nutritionally balanced diet, resume physical activity gradually and progressively, and avoid staying up late, excessive fatigue, and strenuous exercise—thus supporting myocardial stabilization and facilitating complete recovery of cardiac function.
