Severe periodontal damage results in substantial alveolar bone resorption; when tooth mobility exceeds normal physiological limits and cannot be restored to stability through treatment, extraction becomes necessary. Following extraction, prosthetic rehabilitation options—including dental implants, fixed bridges, or removable dentures—may be selected based on the condition of the alveolar ridge. Dental implantation is suitable for most edentulous patients and can restore chewing function closely approximating that of natural teeth.
In daily life, maintain meticulous cleaning of interdental spaces and tooth surfaces, and schedule regular periodontal maintenance visits. Adopt gentle chewing habits and limit excessive occlusal forces from hard foods to slow down degenerative changes and aging of periodontal tissues.
