How to Treat Mite Allergy
Mite allergy treatment includes daily environmental mite control, physical soothing care, topical medications, oral medications, and allergen immunotherapy (desensitization therapy), all aimed at reducing continuous human exposure to mites, suppressing the body’s allergic response, and relieving symptoms such as skin itching, red rashes, nasal itching, and sneezing. If symptoms such as wheezing, chest tightness, or widespread generalized rash occur, prompt medical evaluation and treatment at a hospital are recommended.
1. Daily Environmental Mite Control:
Wash bedding and curtains regularly and dry them in high temperatures to kill mites. Maintain indoor dryness and adequate ventilation. Minimize dust-collecting items such as carpets and plush toys to reduce indoor mite populations and interrupt ongoing allergen exposure.
2. Physical Soothing Care:
When red rashes and itching occur, gently apply a cool, damp towel to affected areas to alleviate skin heat and discomfort. Avoid scratching the affected areas and refrain from washing the skin with hot water to prevent epidermal damage and reduce the risk of secondary infection.

3. Topical Medications:
Apply a thin layer of antiallergic ointment to affected skin areas to reduce local inflammation and relieve itching and rashes. Apply only to involved skin lesions, monitor skin sensation closely, and discontinue use if persistent stinging occurs.
4. Oral Medications:
For extensive allergic symptoms or pronounced itching and nasal irritation, take oral antiallergic medications to suppress systemic allergic reactions. Follow your physician’s instructions regarding dosage and timing; monitor your body’s response and avoid increasing the dose without medical guidance.
5. Allergen Immunotherapy (Desensitization Therapy):
Once mites are confirmed as the causative allergen, under medical supervision, gradually introduce minute amounts of mite allergen to enhance the body’s tolerance. This therapy requires a prolonged course; consistent adherence helps reduce symptom severity upon subsequent mite exposure.
Maintain regular cleaning of living spaces and control indoor humidity levels. Frequently air out clothing and bedding to inhibit mite proliferation, thereby sustaining stable health and lowering the likelihood of recurrent allergic episodes.
